After another stellar performance in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, Michigan State running back Le’Veon Bell tweeted Thursday he was ending his Spartans career early. Joining Bell will also be Spartans tight end Dion Sims.

Michigan State loss two key members of their offense on Thursday as Le’Veon Bell and Dion Sims both used Twitter to announce their intentions of taking their talents to the NFL.

Bell’s Loss Major Blow

After rushing for 1,793 yards and 12 TDs in 13 games this season for Michigan State, standout running back Le’Veon Bell used Twitter to announce his decision to declare for the NFL Draft.

“As hard as it was to leave Spartan Nation, it was even harder to pass on such a great opportunity I have in front of me! But I love and thank Spartan Nation for everything! I will always be a Spartan!”

After being the major force of the Spartans struggling offense, Bell’s declaration leaves a major hole going into the spring and camp in August.

The news is not a surprise to those who cover the Spartans as Bell’s total of 382 carries looked to take a toll in the later parts of the season.

Many project Bell to be a second day selection with a possible chance of jumping up into the first round.

This marks the second year the Spartans have loss a running back early to the draft as Edwin Baker left following last season.

Spartans Lose Big Target In Sims

When they needed him most Spartans tight end Dion Sims seemed to deliver. With 36 catches for 475 yards and two TDs, Sims became quarterback Andrew Maxwell’s safety net when the Spartans needed a big play.

Sims also used Twitter to announce his intentions of leaving the program early.

“I want to thank #SpartanNation for 4 of the best years of my life! I'll always bleed green & white!!!,” tweeted Sims.

More To Come?

The Spartans may also be losing defensive end William Gholston this week to the draft.

Gholston, who recorded 59 total tackles (4.5 sacks) may also declare this week but seems to still be thinking things over.
