Saum Grabs First Offer

Indianapolis Cathedral (Ind.) junior tight end Zach Saum picks up an in-state offer as his first.

Ball State extended an offer to one of the top junior tight ends in their home state yesterday, Cathedral High's Zach Saum.

"It was amazing," the 6'4, 215-lb Saum said. "I was speechless when he told me. I didn't know what to say. He had to ask, did you hear that? And I said yeah. I've worked my whole life for this."

After visiting Muncie, Saum was told by the staff that they would get back to him. It did not take long as they made contact that night and extended the offer.

"They have a lot to offer. They have one of greatest campuses I've been to. It's not too big, not too small. I like Coach Lembo, I like Coach Lynch, I like all the coaches. I talk to a lot of them. I'm excited for the future."

Saum is currently receiving additional interest from Indiana, Air Force, Toledo, and Purdue.

"I went to Toledo's junior day," he explained. "I'm more of a new recruit for them. I just sent film. I started in-state and am working out. They said to keep in touch, and they'll come to school when the dead period is over. And then I was invited to Purude's junior day [on Sunday], but I was out of town, so I couldn't go."

Saum says he plans to head to several college camps over the summer months. He carries a 3.5 grade point average in the classroom. Recommended Stories
