Victor Oladipo hasn't yet cracked the starting lineup for the Orlando Magic through two preseason games, but he's making a strong case to do so soon.
Oladipo shined Friday night against Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The former Indiana guard had a team-high 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting and 2-of-7 from beyond the arc. Oladipo also led the Magic with eight rebounds.
Oladipo faired well against Irving, one of the elite young point guards in the game. Irving was just 5-of-16 from the field for 17 points.
There will still undoubtedly be some growing pains for Oladipo, who is learning to play the point guard position. He had four turnovers and three assists against the Cavaliers.
"I kind of had some turnovers from being aggressive but rushing too much," Oladipo told the Orlando Sentinel. "But, again, it's all a learning process."
Oladipo and the Magic will be back in action on Monday night at Dallas.
