You know their statistics. You know all the obvious things there are to know about your favorite Indiana athletes. Now here’s a quick look at a few quick things you may not know in our Five Questions segment.
Today’s Five Questions focuses on IU defensive end Nick Mangieri, a true junior from Peoria, Ill.
1. What’s your favorite place to eat in Bloomington and what do you like to eat there?
I’d probably say Bubs and get one of those big burgers. That’s always my go-to spot. They have the Big Ugly Challenge there. It’s like a pound of meat and like a half pound of bun on there. All the outside linebackers went there like two Thursday’s before camp and we all did the Big Ugly Challenge so that was kind of fun. And I was successful so you can probably see my picture on the wall there somewhere.
2. What was the biggest adjustment when you moved from Peoria to Bloomington?
Probably just being away from my parents. I had always relied on my parents to like do my laundry and kind of cook for me. And all of a sudden you’re on your own and you’re kind of lost for that first semester. We eat most of our meals at the stadium during the school year but during the summer me and my buddies would cook at night during the week and that was kind of fun.
3. Are we talking real cooking or Ramen noodles? Was it edible?
Oh yeah. We cooked like chicken, burgers, steak, hot dogs. We would just kind of grill out.
4. What are you studying at Indiana?
I haven’t decided my major. I’m in the Kelley School of Business right now but I’m undecided with my major. But it will be something with business.E
5. Did you have a role model or anybody growing up that you really looked up to?
I would probably say that my dad and my older brother were definitely my role models growing up. Just seeing how they lived their life and how hard they worked. My brother played at Nebraska. He was the long snapper there. He was three years older than me. So I kind of got to watch him go through it all and that gave me someone to look up to.
