IU-bound tight end Jeff Sanders talks about what's in store for Sacred Heart Griffin's regular season finale against Jerseyville, along with a conversation he recently had with IU Assistant Head Coach Bill Lynch.
Dear Hoosier Nation,
During last week’s game we faced some adversity and still came out on top, to win our sixth straight conference championship. This game, unlike most, we faced an opponent who we had to continue to battle until the last minute of the game. The offense and defense have had better days and both units have been working all week on the weaknesses exposed in last Saturday’s game. We ended up winning the contest against Taylorville (6-2) 28-21.
This week we play our second and final non-conference game of the season versus the Jerseyville Panthers. This year the Panthers have a record of 2-6 but have lost some really close games against some really good teams. Taking that into consideration, we are not taking them lightly. If you would like a more in-depth report,
has a great synopsis of the Panthers. We've been practicing some different things this week in order to prepare for our game including practicing with a wet ball. Since it is supposed to rain on Friday evening, our coaching staff brought out a cooler full of water and ice to simulate catching a wet ball. Just like the postal service, through rain, sleet, snow, or storm, we are going to be able to catch the ball! We are definitely pumped up for this game to end the season undefeated. I believe both offense and defense have something to prove this game to make up for last week’s performance.
I spoke with Coach Lynch on Tuesday just like I do every week. During our conversation he mentioned coming up for my official visit in the first week of December. I am excited to get my first official experience on campus as a Hoosier and can’t wait to meet my future teammates.
Wish me luck tonight!
GO HOOSIERS!
