The NCAA is expected to issue its final ruling on its investigation into the University Oklahoma basketball program and former Sooner Coach Kelvin Sampson during a 3 p.m. teleconference today.

Sampson, who left Oklahoma this spring to become the Indiana University head coach, has been under investigation for approximately 550 impermissible phone calls that he and his staff made to recruits from 2000-04.

After its own investigation Oklahoma put itself on two years’ probation and Sampson’s salary was frozen, but there remains the possibility that the NCAA could impose additional sanctions as well. While most close to the situation don’t expect that to happen, if the NCAA decides additional penalties are warranted, they could follow Sampson to IU.

HoosierNation.com will have more information on the teleconference later today.
