Bloomington, Ind. – Indiana University will hold a press conference at noon today to announce that Bill Lynch will be given a new five-year contract to coach the IU football program.

Lynch guided Indiana to a 7-5 record this past season, the program’s first winning season since 1994. The Hoosiers are also expected to receive their first bowl bid since 1993 following last week’s 27-24 win over Purdue, a victory that ended a run of five straight losses to IU’s arch-rival and was likely needed to get the Hoosiers into the postseason.

In 15 years as a head coach, Lynch has compiled a 88-72-3 mark. Before taking over at IU following the passing of Terry Hoeppner, Lynch coached at Butler (36-12-3 from 1985-89), Ball State (37-53 from 1995-02) and DePauw (8-2 in 2004).

HoosierNation.com will have more on the Lynch announcement later today.
