Bloomington, Ind. – It appears to be a Big Ten battle for Marietta, Ga., standout Brynden Trawick.
The 6-2, 210-pound safety from Sprayberry H.S. made an official to Indiana
over the weekend, making the Hoosiers the third Big Ten team Trawick visited. After earlier officials to Michigan State
, Scout.com's 78th-ranked safety nationally said he might be set to wrap up his trips and get down to making a decision.
"I don't know if I'm going to stop right here or keep going," Trawick said. "It might be just those three."
If that's the case, will Indiana's opportunity to be the last school on the visit list pay off? Trawick said he did come away impressed with the Hoosier program during his weekend trip.
"I liked it a lot," Trawick said. "I got to hang out with the players and they showed me a good time."
One of the first things Trawick did was watch the Hoosiers practice Friday afternoon. As one of the first players to arrive for his official Trawick was at the Mellencamp Indoor Practice Facility for the duration of the Hoosiers' 2 ½-hour practice session.
"It really impressed me how the coaches were teaching the players," Trawick said.
Indiana's staff has also emphasized that there could be a chance to play early if he winds up in Bloomington. Trawick, who recorded 69 tackles, one interception and five passes broken up this fall, has the size, strength and speed (4.55 in the 40) to challenge for playing time immediately.
"The coaches said they like how and rangy I am, and how good of a hitter I am," Trawick said. "They said if I come in and if I worked, I could play early."
Trawick wanted to see the Hoosiers scrimmage Saturday morning as well, but he instead had to depart so that he could take the ACT Saturday morning. Despite the early exit, Trawick said there was a lot to like about IU, including the fact they are going to their first bowl game since 1993.
"It shows they're starting a tradition and they are getting things going in the right direction," Trawick said.
But there's also plenty to like about the other two Big Ten schools on his list. Trawick made his official to Purdue Oct. 5, and followed that up with a trip to East Lansing, Mich., Oct. 12 when the Spartans whipped the Hoosiers 56-21.
"I liked Purdue because they've traditionally gone to bowl every year, and I like Michigan State because of the history and all the great things to come out of Michigan State," Trawick said.
If he does in fact decide to make his pick amongst those three Big Ten schools, Trawick said he'll likely make a decision in late December or early January.
