According to a Vincennes University press release, Vincennes (Ind.) J.C. guard Devon Dumes has committed to play for the Hoosiers next fall.
Vincennes University issued a press release last night announcing that 6’2”, 185-pound Vincennes Junior College guard
Devon Dumes
had pledged to the Hoosiers. Dumes averaged 16.9 points per game on a Vincennes JC squad that went 28-6 last season.
Dumes, who has two years of eligibility remaining, joins fall signees
Matt Roth
and
Tom Pritchard
in the Hoosiers’ ’08 class.
Before heading to Vincennes, Dumes was a prep star at Indianapolis Decatur Central H.S. As a senior he averaged 24.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.4 steals and shot 35.6 percent (63-of-177) from behind the 3-point arc. He also finished his prep career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,306 points.
That earned him a scholarship at
Eastern Michigan
, where he was the team’s fourth-leading scorer as a freshman with 8.1 points/game. Dumes ranked second on the team with 53 3-pointers and averaged 18.8 minutes per game on a team that went 13-19.
But Dumes left the MAC school and enrolled at Vincennes J.C., where he started 33 or 34 games and was the team’s leading scorer and second-leading assist man (4.1).
According to the release, Dumes also considered Ohio State, Colorado, South Alabama and UTEP.
