According to a published report, IU commit Matt Carlino is moving from Phoenix to Bloomington and will enroll at Bloomington South H.S. for his final two seasons of high school basketball.

The Arizona Republic reported today that Matt's father, Mark, resigned as the head basketball coach at Gilbert Highland H.S. today in anticipation of the move. According to the story, the Carlinos will depart for Bloomington this week.

At Bloomington South, the 6'3" junior-to-be Carlino will join a pair of other highly-regarded junior guards in Spencer Turner and Darwin Davis. That trio of guards, combined with Butler-bound forward Erik Fromm, figures to make the Panthers the preseason favorites to defend their state championship.

Carlino, who verbally committed to Indiana before his sophomore season, was the Fiesta Region Player of the Year last season at Highland H.S. He can play both point guard and shooting guard, although he's been playing primarily point guard this summer on the Indiana Elite One AAU squad.

The elder Carlino, who spent two seasons as the head coach at Highland, told the Arizona Republic that he doesn't plan on coaching in Indiana. Instead, he said he'll be spending his time traveling for his law practice.
