Bloomington – Freshman guard
Daniel Moore
will be limited for the next 10 weeks after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his left foot at one of IU’s summer basketball camps.
IU Coach Tom Crean said Moore came down on his foot wrong while doing a demonstration at a recent camp. Moore underwent surgery Monday and returned to Bloomington today to begin the rehabilitation process.
While the expectation is that Moore is more than two months away from being fully cleared to return to the court, Crean expects him to work as much as he can to improve in the interim.
“He had looked good,” Crean said of the Carmel H.S. product who averaged 2.5 points, 2.6 assists and 1.4 rebounds in 31 games last season. “The focus with him now is that he continues to build that strength and work on the form and technique of his shot.”
Crean said Moore will work under the guidance of Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Jeff Watkinson and team trainer Tim Garl during this period. Among the things they’ll do is lower a basket for him to work with, which will allow Moore to work on his shooting stroke.
“Any time something happens, you have to be able to work through it,” Crean said. “Any injury any aches and pains, any rehabilitation, you have to find a way to get better, and that’s exactly what we want to do with him.”
