O'Conner Adds Name to IU Commit List
Now, Indiana is more than a favorite – it's the place O'Conner will call home beginning next fall.
The 6'4", 190-pound wide receiver made it official, becoming the 17th player to verbal to the Hoosiers this summer. When O'Conner was offered a scholarship back in April by IU Assistant Coach Mike Yeager, he told Scout.com's Dave Berk just how big of a deal that was to him.
"This is really an offer I wanted to get," O'Conner said at the time. "I'm hearing from other schools but Indiana wasted little time in offering me and that is something I'll always remember. With this offer I can say Indiana has gone to the top of my list of schools and I look forward to learn more about the staff and program soon."
O'Conner has since learned enough about the program and the coaches to pick the Hoosiers as his college destination. He's the second wideout to pledge to IU this summer, joining Muncie (Ind.) Delta's Logan Young.
Elder H.S. is expected to be one of the nation's premier teams this fall, having gone 13-2 a year ago and finishing as the Division I state-runner-up. O'Conner's team heads into the season ranked No. 7 nationally according to MaxPreps.
O'Conner, meanwhile, is looking to put together another huge season. As a junior, O'Conner caught 70 passes for 1,004 yards and 13 touchdowns. That included a huge game in the 28-20 loss to St. Ignatius in the state title contest when O'Conner had 14 catches for 185 yards and two scores.
