IU Coach Mike Davis filled one of the two vacancies on his coaching staff Friday, naming former LaSalle staff member Louis Twigg as IU’s administrative assistant.
Twigg, who has seven years of Division I basketball experience, spent the last three seasons as the Director of Basketball Operations at LaSalle. IN addition to coordinating all of the team’s travel, Twigg also assisted in scheduling and film exchange.
His IU responsibilities will include overseeing all of the editing of game and practice video as well as coordinating game tape exchange. He will also organize IU’s summer basketball camps and coordinate all official and unofficial visits for prospective recruits.
Twigg replaces Eric Jackson, who left the program over the summer and recently accepted a position at the University of Wyoming.
“We are excited and thrilled to have Louis as a member of the IU family,” Davis said in a prepared statement. “He brings a wealth of knowledge about the game having worked under some of the best coaches in the game.”
Twigg’s background also includes stints under both Temple Coach John Chaney and Maryland’s Gary Williams. Twigg served as the head manager at Maryland from 1997-99. From there Twigg went to Temple, where he spent two seasons as the team’s video coordinator and undergraduate assistant coach.
A Temple graduate, Twigg also spent one year at the University of Charleston (2002) as the team’s Director of Basketball Operations.
Twigg’s arrival leaves Davis with one assistant coaching vacancy remaining. He still must replace Thad Fitzpatrick, who departed this summer to return to Alabama. Fitzpatrick accepted a vice principal’s position at Brookwood High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
