Juwan Morgan, a 2015 forward from Missouri, will arrive in Bloomington on Thursday afternoon to begin his official visit to Indiana. It will be his second of four scheduled official visits. The first was to Vanderbilt last weekend.
Morgan, a 6-foot-9 forward, is a top 100 prospect in 2015 and would give the Hoosiers much needed help on the interior.
Morgan was originally scheduled to take his official visit to IU with AAU teammate and 2015 guard Shake Milton the weekend of Sept. 25-27, but Morgan moved his visit up due to his class schedule.
I spoke with Morgan briefly on Wednesday, and he could be close to making a decision. He still has visits scheduled to both Washington and Stanford, but told me those visits might not happen depending on this weekend.
"[A decision] could come by the end of the weekend, or after I take all four visits," Morgan told AllHoosiers.com. "I'll know the right place when I get there."
The fact that Morgan moved his Indiana visit up several weeks bodes well for Tom Crean and Co. At this point, I believe IU is the heavy favorite to land Morgan and wouldn't be at all surprised if the Hoosiers had their first 2015 commit by the end of the weekend.
I've been asked several times if Morgan and Milton are considered to be a package deal, and I certainly believe they could be. If Morgan were to commit to IU over the weekend, it would certainly help IU's chances at Milton when he comes to campus in a few weeks. But Indiana looks different to Morgan and Milton.
For Morgan, IU presents an opportunity to come in and play right away because of the lack of depth on the front line. For Milton, it may be tougher to get early playing time because of the surplus of guards currently on the roster.
